In May 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic was ravaging our country and PPE was in short supply, many people were able to secure re-uasble masks. The NFF Board wondered how truck drivers, the heroes that keep our country moving were managing. It turns out that many weren’t. Forced to cobble together makeshift masks with paper towels, t-shirts, and rubber bands, it was clear they needed help. With the Summer Camp on hold, we focused our energy on providing drivers with free, re-usable masks and $10.00 gift cards as a token of our appreciation. The response was overwhelming, and we returned to LOVE’S Truck Stop the night before Thanksgiving. We could think of no better time to show our gratitude to those far away from home and family.
