Old Barracks Summer Camp
For decades, the Old Barracks Museum in Trenton, NJ hosted an amazing summer day camp. By 2016, the camp was in danger of closing due to low enrollment. For the Nicky Fifth Foundation, the solution was simple: an amazing camp that needs campers was located in a capital city of 85,000 people. Sadly, many of the city’s children lived in poverty and wouldn’t be able to pay the tuition. Many would also have no transportation. That’s when the NFF Old Barracks Summer Camp Scholarship was created. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to offer students a scholarship covering tuition, breakfast, and lunch each day for one week. And an assist from former New Jersey State Police Major Ron Hampton provided transportation for those in need. The first summer we provided two weeks of camp for 50 city children. The following years, four weeks of camp for nearly 100 children with the fourth week reserved for campers ages 13-16. Please take a moment to view our galleries and consider sponsoring a local child. For $200.00 you can provide a scholarship and an unforgettable experience.
